The Five Stages of a Watsu Training
Each stage has an organic unity. Rather than being the first step
towards something to be achieved later, an achievement is completed
at each stage. The sequence or kind of session learned at each can
be repeated over and over without losing its freshness or benefits
for both giver and receiver. That is because what each has to teach
us - presence, flow, form, adaptation, and creativity - is something
we continue to learn throughout our life. And rather than just being
a step, each becomes a platform that supports and sustains the next.
• Basic Watsu (first
16 hours of Watsu 1) introduces the body mechanics, and the
heart and breath connection, that ground our presence with
another in the water.
• Transition Flow
(last 34 hours of Watsu 1) introduces Watsu’s timeless
continuity through the beauty and grace of its flow from one
position to the next.
• Expanded Flow (Watsu
2) creates a complete Watsu form by introducing in each position
of the Transition Flow additional moves and point work.
• Advanced Flow
(Watsu 3) fills the Watsuer’s toolbox with powerful
stretches, stepwork, rolls and other ways to adapt each session.
• Free Flow (Watsu
4), an inner Watsu course, opens the gateway to the deepest
levels of our creativity.
